3 Mobile Huawei E5830 Mobile WiFi Device
The Huawei E5830 is a Mi-Fi device. It connects to the Mobile Broadband network of 3 Mobile and creates a WiFi cloud around it. Hence allowing multiple (maximum of 5) WiFi capable devices to connect to the internet in its vicinity. Since it is a mobile gadget, it enables the WiFi cloud to move along with it, wherever it goes. Thus you get mobile broadband as well as a mobile WiFi hotspot with this device.
The Huawei E5830 Mobile WiFi device is small and compact, with rounded edges. It measures 86 x 46.5 x 10.5mm and weighs just 90g. It is powered by a rechargeable battery. On one of its sides, you’ll find 3 buttons for switching it on, for turning mobile broadband on/off and for turning WiFi on/off. On the other side is a microSD card slot. On the bottom edge is a mini-USB port which enables connecting to a computer or laptop, via a USB extension cable. There are different coloured LEDs on its front to indicate signal presence, roaming, status of broadband connection, status of WiFi connection and battery (whether charging is required). On removing the cover on the back, you will find the battery. Behind this battery is the slot for inserting 3’s SIM card.
Getting started with this mobile WiFi is simple. You need to turn it on first. Then press the connect button which enables it to hook on to the mobile broadband network. Finally press the WiFi activation button to enable the WiFi devices to connect on to the internet.
In-order to alter its settings, or to control it from your laptop/computer, you’ll need to plug it into the USB port of your system. Installation of software will start-up automatically. An application called the 3 WiFi Manager will as well get installed. You can control the intelligent mobile hotspot (another name given to the MiFi device) with this manager – like – altering settings, turning on/off mobile broadband and WiFi, storing contacts and sending/receiving SMS. This mobile WiFi device can serve as a card reader too, when linked to your laptop, thanks to its microSD card slot.
The 3 Mobile Huawei E5830 mobile broadband MiFi gives a battery life of about 5 hours. It promises download speeds of a maximum of 2.8Mbps. Wireless B and G are supported for WiFi connectivity.
