Wireless Broadband

  1. Wireless broadband is a method of connecting to a cable internet connection using a wireless router.
  2. Users require a wireless router and a wireless card installed in their computer to access the internet wirelessly.
  3. The cable broadband connection is plugged in to the wireless router and the wireless option is enabled to create a wireless zone for a certain limit.
  4. Any computer which has a wireless card installed in it can access the wireless internet if available within the range.
  5. The speed of the internet depends on the speed of the cable connection and the distance between the router and the computer.
  6. The wireless router is secured by an inbuilt firewall and any private access can be restricted using WEP and WPA keys.
  7. Wireless routers can provide access to multiple devices at the same time.

Mobile Broadband

  1. Mobile broadband uses a USB modem, dongle or data card to connect to the internet.
  2. The USB modem should be connected either directly or by using a USB cable in the computer.
  3. The USB modem automatically installs the driver and the connectivity software and access the mobile network to connect to the internet.
  4. The SIM card in the USB modem access the nearest mobile base station and connects to the internet.
  5. The speed of the mobile broadband depends on the coverage and the signal strength of the mobile network.
  6. The mobile broadband modem is secured by the firewall provided by the ISP and uses only a local IP address which can prevent unauthorized access to the network.
  7. A mobile broadband modem can provide access to only one device at a time.
