8 Tube stations with Wi-Fi hotspots
Virgin Media, the company that provides both fixed and mobile telephone, television and broadband internet services to businesses and customers in the UK, has created last month wi-fi hotspots at six Tube stations. Now it is reported that wireless broadband services has been activated in 32 Tube stations in London by Virgin Media which could be considered as one more feather on its crown.
Six Tube stations namely Euston, Victoria, Green Park, Oxford Circus, Warren Street and King’s Cross were all provided with Wi-Fi hotspots last month by Virgin Media. According to the Ofcom accredited price comparison site, Cable.co.uk, currently the total number of Wi-Fi stations on the London Underground network is 38 which includes Stratford, Southfields and Paddington.
The much awaited London Olympic Games is scheduled to be started by the end of July and Virgin Media is trying its best to push up the number of Wi-Fi stations on the London underground to 80 before the commencement of the Games. The broadband provider also aims to touch 120 by the close of 2012.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said that the London residents, visitors and works are tremendously benefited by the wireless broadband services rendered by Virgin Media. He also added that super fast broadband connectivity is very essential for existing as well as new businesses for it will help businesses to capture new markets and create new jobs.
