Home Broadband Customer Numbers of Orange dip
Although, the leading mobile broadband provider operating in the United Kingdom Orange is on cloud nine these days after getting the all important nod for its merger with T-Mobile from the European Commission, it has definitely received a blow recently as its home broadband customer base was reduced by 16 per cent.
According to a report published by France Telecom, the parent company of the mobile broadband provider, comparing its subscriber base between the term between July and September 2009, fifty nine thousand fewer subscribers were on its network in 2009 Q4.
It definitely comes as a blow to Orange UK as compared to the number of subscribers on the ISP’s network in quarter 3 of 2009 that numbered to 899,000, in the term between October and December of the same year only around 840,000 homes signed up freshly for the home broadband packages of the ISP.
France Telecom further revealed a decrease by 11.9 per cent in the profits from its services dedicated to home communications, which by the end of 2009, exactly stood at GBP 213 million (235 million Euros).
However, Orange is expected to shrug off the negatives as it is currently greatly thrilled to welcome the fact that it along with its partner T-Mobile is all set to become the largest mobile operator in the United Kingdom at the completion of the merger, which faces virtually no more impediments as the EU has given them a comprehensive clearance.
