Mobile internet access more expensive when used abroad

The latest proposals from European commission would impose caps on roaming charges offered by the mobile operators for customers who travel. With this new move, European commission hopes to cut down retail prices. European Union rules will put caps on the extent mobile operators charge the customers while roaming on the networks.

The mobile broadband will continue to be more expensive for people who are going online while traveling. Accessing internet abroad from the handsets will be costly than browsing internet from home. European commission has set price curbs on roaming calls till 2022. However, accessing internet will be hundreds of times more expensive. Ed Vaizey, the communications minister is called to battle against the proposals of European Union.

Three trade bodies, a price comparison sitw and Mobile phone operator Three calls for further price cuts. They claim that using mobile phone in Europe will cost more than the Trip and has urged the Communication Minister to fight against the proposals. This month, representatives of the European communications ministers will meet.

Currently, £3,000 is paid by mobile phone users who travel abroad for 1GB (gigabyte) of data, while £10 is charged for the same amount in the UK. Mobile users have to spend a large amount to access web from their phones.
