O2’s Pocket Hotspot available in the market

O2, UK’s leading provider of mobile phones and broadband, has entered the UK market today with a new mobile Wi-Fi gadget, the O2 Pocket Hotspot.

Up to five devices could be connected to the web simultaneously by the new gadget including laptops, tablets and smartphones. O2 Pocket Hotspot has maximum upload speeds of 5.76 Mbps and download speeds of 21.6 Mbps.

O2 Pocket Hotspot is available at the O2 Store for a one-off price of 59.99 Pounds. Two data options are available for Pocket Hotspot users. For 200 MB of data access customers are required to pay 2.04 Pounds daily or buy 1GB or 2GB bundles for a period of one month. 1GB bundle costs 10.21 Pounds while 2GB bundle costs 15.32 Pounds.

Gary Booker, the General Manager of O2 said that the company found that there is demand for a mobile Wi-Fi package in the mobile market that offers lower start- up costs. Customers demanded for a device that would enable them to have access to the internet while they are on the move. At the same time they told the firm that they don’t want to be tied to yearly contracts. So also buying a lot of data from the very beginning is also not liked by them. O2 has devised its Pocket Hotspot in such a way that it could cater to the needs of its customers.
